How to Pick the Right Swimsuit for Your Body Type

Picking out a swimsuit can be a daunting task. Models in ad photos or Instagram posts always appear flawless, no matter what they’re wearing, but anyone in the history of swimsuit shopping has had their fair share of disappointments. How can we make swimsuit-shopping easier and more pleasant? Rather than establishing strict rules, this article is more of a set of guidelines. We’ll guide you through the process step-by-step and help you next time you’re picking out a swimsuit!

Here are some recommendations for the sort of swimsuit we would recommend for each body type:

  • hourglass

Generally all swimsuits will flatter an hourglass figure. However, a common problem may be one-piece swimsuits being too large at the waist. If you would like to have a better chance of getting a nice, flattering fit from a one-piece, we recommend HAILEY and MOLLY from the one-size line! The extra stretchy fabric can adapt to and fit multiple sizes and is sure to overcome that common issue.

Alternatively, if you would like to show off your curves, go for EMILY, which provides ample support, while having a simple, classic design.

  • pear

The KIM swimsuit has a cute bow on the front, which will draw attention to your bust, and a high-waisted bottom to cover up your lower body, if you so wish. The NORA swimsuit has large ruffle sleeves, which will emphasize your bust and shoulders and visually balance them with your hips.  Or, if you prefer to cover up your hips, try out the LORA swimsuit, which comes with a stylish mini skirt for extra coverage and a straight-cut strapless top with horizontal stripes to make your chest appear larger.

  • apple

GISELLE is a great choice if you want to draw attention away from your chest and belly and towards your hips. The V-cut neckline is flattering for your bust and the tie at the hips adds visual interest to that area. And of course, a one-piece swimsuit is great if you want to cover up your belly.

  • banana

The OLIVIA swimsuit has a print that draws the eye towards your center and creates the impression of a smaller waist. Plus, it has a really flattering low-cut back! As you probably have a small chest, you can wear super thin straps, like those on the NELLY one-piece. They can be a great feminine touch to an otherwise simple design!

Hopefully this guide has made picking out a swimsuit a bit simpler. Keep in mind though that what matters most to look dashing in a swimsuit is to feel confident in it!
